How to Find Jobs in the Web3 Industry

No experience with coding? No problem. There’s lots of room in web3. Might sound like it’s stating the obvious but it’s also easy to assume that technical knowledge is a prerequisite for working in this booming space.

Where do I look?

Job boards

As the name suggests, this job board lets you explore remote work offers. It’s mostly catered to those who code, but there are also categories for non-coders, writers, community builders, etc. If it’s something you’re interested in, you can also narrow down your search to companies which pay in crypto. You can also subscribe to a daily newsletter.

The website curates job offers at companies and startups which use blockchain tech. They’ve got over four years of experience and post jobs in the following categories: customer support, design, engineering, finance, marketing, operations, product and sales.

The Bankless community lets you browse through crypto and DeFi job offers. They also run the Bankless Talent Collective - you can submit your profile and the platform will match you with opportunities that fit your interests and background.

Programs and courses to get started and hired

If you don’t know how to get started, you might want to consider joining an onboarding program, which will introduce you to the world of web3 and teach you the basics of what you’ll need. You might even be able to build a portfolio in the process and get hired after completing the program. Note that some of these courses are free, while others may not, some being relatively pricey: do your research before applying, as there might be options for reducing the fee or receiving funding.

Consensys Academy offers three courses on blockchain:

• Blockchain Essentials - an introductory course to the basics of blockchain, no prior knowledge is required.
• Developer Program On-Demand - this is a self-paced program teaching you what you need to know about Ethereum development.
• The Blockchain Developer Online Bootcamp - this is a cohort-based bootcamp where you’ll learn about fundamental Ethereum concepts, key tools, security best practices, and smart contract/dApp development and work in teams with your fellow course-attendees.

The name is a clever play on SHA256, a a secure hash algorithm, and the fact that the platform aims to introduce women to the web3 space. she256 aims to disrupt the blockchain through offering three types of support:

• mentorship
• education (like Block-Change: an open-source blockchain education series for high-schoolers, as well as Fireside Chats: interviews with women from the space)
• community (you can also join their ).

They also have a three-step job board available which will guide you throughout the process of applying for a job.

Bloom is an online blockchain and web3 developer program designed for and by women and genderqueer individuals and they’ve partnered up with Consensys Academy, she256 and the Kernel Fellowship. In Bloom, you can choose from two learning tracks, depending on what you’d like to focus on: the engineering track and the architecture track. Bloom is a remote course run synchronously, so you have to keep your eyes peeled for the next edition to come around.

Twitter

Following companies is one idea - they’ll often tweet when they’re looking for someone to join their team. Another good idea is to go through tweets under popular hashtags: #hiring, #web3jobs, #cryptojobs… you get the gist. There are also job board Twitter accounts, which tweet about job opportunities from across the space, in crypto and beyond, like  or .
