I recently read a tweet from Sam Matla that got me thinking.

In his tweet he wrote the following:

I love reading about the daily routines of high-performance individuals. And surely lots of them have very structured routines, but by interviewing many entrepreneurs, and by being an entrepreneur myself, I found how important it is to be able to work in a dynamic, on the move, environment. And tweet was on point.

Leading entrepreneurs, athletes, and investors have to constantly be flexible and able to perform and produce in unfamiliar environments.

Often when I ask entrepreneurs about their daily routines, they usually talk about the philosophies that guide them instead of the actual day-to-day tactics. While the day-to-day tactics are essential, entrepreneurs know that each day brings its own tasks, action items, and flow.

Working on the move

In Sam Matla’s tweet, he wrote:

Those extra hours on the plane, in the hotel lobby before check-in, at a noisy cafe—they add up.

Make use of them.

This is a strong point. If you are an entrepreneur you sometimes need to drive from one meeting to another or have to fly to another country or state for a meeting, and this means you have to learn how to work on the go.

Examples of an entrepreneur who works on the go, and how he does it

  • Salesforce Founder & CEO Marc Benioff is certainly someone that has a very active day filled with meetings, interviews, and leadership decisions. Marc said he doesn’t use a computer, and instead, he manages the tech giant from an . “The phone has really become an extension of my office. Wherever I am, if I have a phone, I can work”.

Let me know what you think, and please comment if you know about more entrepreneurs who have learned how to work and be effective on the move!
