This story is a part of Hacker Noon's Meet the Writer series of interviews. The series is intended for tech professionals contributing the most insightful Hacker Noon stories to share more about their writing habits, ideas, and professional background (and maybe a hobby or two).
If you too would like to start contributing to Hacker Noon, you can do so here.
So let’s start! Tell us a bit about yourself. For example, name, profession, and personal interests.
My name is Baptiste Monnet. Due to events, I became interested in personal development and business. I worked in logistics, private security, and social education field. Otherwise, I have always had the desire to have a side hustle.
Interesting! What was your latest Hackernoon Top story about?
It was this story. EVs are currently one of the largest consumers of Lithium Ion batteries – and those can be pretty toxic. There is a lot of industrial push to recycle the materials from old discarded batteries to try and lessen the pressure on mining.
Do you usually write on similar topics? If not, what do you usually write about?
It depends. I like to share tips, and ideas – but I usually write about personal growth.
Great! What is your usual writing routine like (if you have one?)
Imagination and experience bring the idea. I make sure my story can make a meaningful change. When I write, I like to listen to the piano and be in a quiet place.
Being a writer in tech can be a challenge. It’s not often our main role, but an addition to another one. What is the biggest challenge you have when it comes to writing?
We interpret every day. Between what I see and what I think I see, there is a difference. I would like each reader to be able to identify with the idea (story) shared.
What is the next thing you hope to achieve in your career?
I hope to give more. When I give, I have control. What matters when we create something is the community we accompany.
Wow, that’s admirable. Now, something more casual: What is your guilty pleasure of choice?
I like to eat something else while I cook.
Yes. I love watches – stories and watchmaking. I also like to read and watch food videos.
Tips and ideas – oriented on an open mind and common sense.
Thanks for taking time to join our “Meet the writer” series. It was a pleasure. Do you have any closing words?
Don't be afraid to be yourself in this crazy world – no matter what you say, no matter what you do, you'll always be judged by others. We live in the same world where we have our own world.
